Equinox Vermont - Past & Future

The Future
Shown below are photo simulations representing what a modern wind turbine installation would look like on the top of Little Equinox Mountain.

Unlike the older generation of wind turbines previously installed on the mountain, modern wind turbines offer 95%+ reliability / availability (more than most fossil fuel plants). Scroll down to view prior wind turbine installations on Little Equinox.

The "Recent" Past: 1990
New England's sixth wind farm consisted of the reinstallation of wind turbines on Equinox, the turbines went on line in the beginning of 1990. The wind farm was a success and proved that electricity could be generated in harsh winter climates.

The "Not-So Recent" Past: 1981
One of the first wind farm installations in the US, was at Equinox. These photos document the four WTG turbines installed in 1981 & 1982. These early turbines were apparently plagued with mechanical issues. Every technology has to start someplace, wind turbine technology has come a long way in 20+ years.
